Alpine Spur Whiskey Wins Drammie

ALPINE SPUR WHISKEY WINS DRAMMIE AWARD FOR MOST INNOVATIVE NEW WHISKEY

Spur WhiskeyWhiskey enthusiasts have honored Alpine Distilling’s Spur Whiskey with a 2018 Drammie Award for Most Innovative New Whiskey Release in 2017. The annual International Drammie Awards sends out a call for nominations to ForWhiskyLovers.com email subscribers, members of whiskey clubs, and the general whiskey-consuming public. After nominations are closed, the top five nominations for each category are posted on ForWhiskeyLovers.com, and voting then commences to select the category winners. The Drammie Awards have become among the most important and prestigious means of recognition for those in the whiskey industry.

“This award is especially gratifying because we are being recognized by actual whiskey drinkers and enthusiasts. As a Kentuckian, the responsibility of Bourbon stewardship is important. Finding a way to innovate a flavor profile that so many people enjoy is deeply satisfying,” comments Rob Sergent, Distiller and Founder of Alpine Distilling. “We know the market is crowded with many excellent products, giving individuals seemingly unlimited choices in what to consume, so earning this award from hundreds of worldwide whiskey enthusiasts is quite an honor.”

This year, ForWhiskeyLovers.com received more than 300 nominations for its 25 Drammie Award Drammie Awardcategories, with 2,000-plus people from around the world casting their votes for the finalists.

In 2017, Alpine Spur Whiskey was inspired by The Spur Bar & Grill, a classic and popular establishment on Park City’s Historic Main Street. Spur Whiskey blends just the right balance of Alpine Distilling’s Double Gold & Gold Medal-winning Traveler’s Rest Single Malt Whiskey and a Kentucky Bourbon. The French Oak-aged single malt has a banana, mocha note finish with a vanilla spice, while the Bourbon contributes corn sweetness and American Oak brown flavors with subtle rye spice. This blend creates a spirit that excels as a sipping whiskey or in classic American cocktails.

Alpine Spur Whiskey is available by the bottle at the distillery, in Utah State Liquor Stores, online at ForWhiskeyLovers.com, and through distribution partners in New York, New Jersey, New Orleans, and California.

As a young distillery, Alpine Distilling is pleased to add this Drammie Award to its collection of Awards – Preserve Liqueur (SIP Awards -Platinum medal, 2016), Lafayette Spiced Flavored Bourbon (SIP Awards- Gold medal, 2016), Traveler’s Rest Single Malt Whiskey (“50 Best” -Double -Gold, 2018; SIP Awards -Gold medal, 2017), and Persistent Vodka (SIP Awards – Silver medal, 2017).

For Whiskey Lovers is the largest online retailer of whiskey in the United States, shipping spirits to 29 countries and 35 states.

Alpine Distilling Single Malt Earns Top Honors

TRAVELER’S REST AMERICAN SINGLE MALT WHISKEY BY ALPINE DISTILLING NAMED A TOP AMERICAN MALT WHISKEY BY THE FIFTY BEST

The Fifty Best, an online guide that rates the finest wines and spirits, recently hosted an American Malt Whiskey Tasting of 20 products evaluated for the distinguished “Best American Malt Whiskey” awards for 2018. Alpine Distilling’s Traveler’s Rest American Single Malt Whiskey was awarded a Double Gold medal, the highest honor. The Park City, Utah-based craft distillery was founded in 2016.

Using professional criteria, the pre-qualified panel of judges blind-tasted the American malt whiskies and rated them individually on a 1 to 5 point scoring system with five being the best. After tallying the scores, medals were awarded based on the judges’ impressions.

“We are honored to have Traveler’s Rest Single Malt receive such high accolades from experts in various disciplines of the spirits industry,” says Rob Sergent, Alpine Distilling’s managing director. “Alpine Distilling is committed to producing the finest spirits using traditional distilling techniques to create distinctive flavor combinations.”

To create this rich, nutty single malt whiskey, North American high protein, high enzyme 100% malted barley is aged first in used Jack Daniels barrels and finished with new, toasted French Oak.

Additional, award-winning craft spirits from Alpine Distilling include Lafayette Spiced Flavored Whiskey, Preserve Liqueur, Persistent Vodka, and Spur Whiskey.

TheFiftyBest.com is a digital guide to wines and spirits, featuring rated listings from proprietary blind tastings judged by wine and spirits journalists, spirits professionals, retailers, mixologists, spirits consultants and connoisseurs. The Fifty Best achieves the highest standards of spirits evaluations by adhering to strict tasting rules and rigorous methodology.

Alpine Distilling Tasting Events

PARK CITY, UTAH’S ALPINE DISTILLING HEIGHTENS THE SENSES
WITH NEW TASTING EVENTS
New 375ml Bottles Make for Unique Holiday Gifts for Spirits Enthusiasts

Pursuant to Alpine Distilling’s philosophy that spirits are best enjoyed in the company of friends, family, and colleagues, the award-winning craft distillery is introducing new tasting events that cater to groups. Designed for guests to develop greater sensory awareness when it comes to tasting and smell, the Aroma Game and Foundations of Flavor offerings in Park City will inspire participants to discover these senses that promise to enhance their appreciation for spirits.

The Aroma Game is a one-hour, facilitated event that challenges guests to guess aromatic notes and use those notes to describe Alpine’s award-winning whiskies. They will then have the rare opportunity to create aromatic compounds to their liking.

“Aroma Academy is delighted that Alpine Distilling is carrying the Aroma Academy range of Sensory Training Products and Aroma Games,” says Alan Gordon, Managing Director & Co-Founder of Aroma Academy. “We are not only very impressed by Alpine’s commitment to producing spirits of the highest calibre but also by their whole approach – based on understanding and sharing the importance of highly developed sensory skills in both creating wonderful flavors and ensuring consistently high product quality.”

Foundations of Flavor is a two-hour program unique in the spirits market. The Utah distillery introduces aromatic stimulants to explore and discuss the characteristics of distillate and compare those to elements from American and French Oak. With that foundation, participants explore the science of mouthfeel (products’ physical and chemical interactions in the mouth) and how temperature and pH alter the taste of spirits.

“In addition to fostering an elevated appreciation for distilled spirits, these tasting events are designed to be both educational and fun regardless of the level of knowledge participants have coming into them,” explains Alpine Distilling’s Founder and Distiller Rob Sergent. “It’s a unique activity for corporate group team building and a diversion for leisure travelers seeking an off-slope or après ski experience with a flavor and aroma adventure.”

Sergent himself, or a trained Alpine Distilling representative, will lead the tastings for up to 16 participants to ensure a personalized experience. Online reservations for both the Aroma Game and Foundations of Flavor tasting events can be made at www.alpinedistilling.com/events

As of December 1, Alpine Distilling’s retail shop at the Park City distillery location, will be open Tuesday-Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Just in time for holiday shoppers seeking novel, flavorful gifts, 375ml bottles of the Lafayette Bourbon, Persistent Vodka, and the newest product, Spur Whiskey, are sold as a three pack or individually at the distillery.

Alpine Distilling’s spirits are also available in Utah State Liquor Stores and online at https://www.forwhiskeylovers.com/distillery-row/distilleries/alpine-distilling

Alpine Distilling Wins Two SIP Awards

PARK CITY, UTAH’S ALPINE DISTILLING ADDS MORE PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS TO ITS COLLECTION

Traveler’s Rest 88 Proof Single Malt Whiskey and Persistent Vodka Earn Gold and Silver Medals, Respectively, at 2017 SIP Awards

Following a hugely successful result at the 2016 International Consumer Tasting SIP Awards where Lafayette Bourbon won a Gold Medal and Preserve Liqueur won Platinum, Alpine Distilling came home with two more awards for its craft spirits in 2017. The SIP Awards announced this month that Traveler’s Rest 88 Proof American Single Malt Whiskey was awarded Gold while Persistent Vodka was awarded Silver.

The only Gold medal-winning single malt, Traveler’s Rest is characterized by nutty, mocha and banana notes. This smooth, drinkable whiskey is aged in Missouri Oak and finished with toasted French Oak to accent subtle vanilla spice, which complements the 6-row barley base.

The 100% corn, gluten free, and non-GMO Persistent Vodka is cut with demineralized, lightly acidic water to create a crisp flavor that is delightful over ice or as a neutral spirit served in cocktails. Clean and slightly sweet, it is distilled six times.

“As a new distillery, it is especially gratifying that all four submissions have earned such high accolades from tasters,” says Distiller and Founder Rob Sergent. “We have enjoyed an equally enthusiastic reception from our local community in Park City and from highly regarded food and beverage industry professionals worldwide. We’re looking forward to expanding our distribution throughout the U.S., in overseas markets, and online.”

Water is a key factor in the superior taste Alpine’s spirits offer. The distillery’s Park City, Utah facility was chosen specifically for the water supply, which comes from an under-mountain aquifer that arrives at the distillery at 52 degrees, 354 ppm and at a pH of 8.0. Working with Water Science’s experts, a carbon-filtering and double reverse osmosis system was engineered to both soften and balance the natural electrolytes while reducing the harsh iron.

Alpine Distilling’s products can be purchased directly from the distillery and will be available in Utah State Liquor Stores beginning this month. It is also served by many fine Park City establishments.

Alpine Distilling BAC Breathalyzers

ALPINE DISTILLING BECOMES DISTRIBUTOR OF BREATHALYZER KEYCHAINS
New Park City Distillery’s Mission is to Promote Responsible Drinking

While Utah’s legislature was considering a bill to lower the state’s legal alcohol limit from .08 to .05 for drivers, distiller Rob Sergent was already making arrangements for Alpine Distilling to become a local distributor of BACtrack. The sleek, mini BACtrack GO keychain breathalyzers are intended to make it convenient for individuals to ensure they are being responsible drinkers. Designed to quickly and accurately determine blood alcohol content, they are now available for purchase for just $29.99 at Alpine Distilling’s Silver Creek location.

“As a socially conscious brand, one of our missions is to promote responsible drinking, and I think becoming a distributor of the BACtrack Go key chains really supports that,” Sergent says. “We hope that having these devices makes it easier to be safe, law-abiding citizens, regardless of what the legal limit is. They certainly offer some piece of mind for those just looking to enjoy an evening out.”

In addition to selling the BACtrack Go keychains, Alpine Distilling has a package license. Traveler’s Rest Single Malt Whiskey is now available for purchase. The Consumer Tasting SIP Gold Award Winner, Lafayette Spice Flavored Whiskey is currently being bottled and will be available mid-April with Preserve Liqueur, SIP Platinum Medal winner, to follow shortly.
