Downtown Salt Lake City’s Last Hurrah New Year’s Eve Celebration Returns in Full Force to The Gateway

After last year’s mostly virtual celebration, The Gateway will once again go big on New Year’s Eve with a myriad of live performances and spectacular fireworks. Downtown Salt Lake City’s largest New Year’s Eve event, Last Hurrah! is free and open to the public with music beginning at 9:00 p.m. on the Olympic Plaza stage complemented by pop-up acts provided by The Blocks, which will be dispersed throughout The Gateway. The festive atmosphere will feature hot beverages and cocktails served outdoors to elevate the spirits and warm the souls.

The following three acts will perform live on the Main Stage from 9 pm until the countdown to midnight at which point the fireworks show will commence and close the evening with a bang.

DJ Justin Cornwall

Justin Cornwall is a DJ with ten years of diverse music industry experience behind him. From starting as a merch guy in the back of a van to production lead on tours and festivals, he has used his network and knowhow to cultivate a presence in the music scene wherever he goes. He has performed at Coachella and held long term residences at The Standard DTLA, Saguaro Palm Springs – and played parties (Heartbreaker, School Night) from coast to coast. Moving from LA to SLC at the end of 2019, he hit the ground running getting booked by local powerhouses S&S, V2 Presents, Live Nite Events, Blaqvoid and more.

The Rubies

The Rubies are an all-girl band from Provo made up of members Aubrey Auclair (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Colette Macfarlane (lead guitar, keys, backup vocals), Avery Davis (bass), and Esther Olsen (drums). Prior to the formation of the band, Aubrey and Colette had been writing music together with the goal in mind to find more members to perform with. After a year of writing and holding on to the hope of finding more girl players, in the fall of 2017 they finally found Esther and Avery with whom things immediately clicked. They continually strive to inspire others through their music and promote female success in the music industry.

Brother.

An indie alternative band based in Provo, Utah, Brother. fuses an eclectic sound of energetic bass lines, catchy soundscapes and heavy-laden harmonies. With the success and high anticipation of their singles “Without It,” “Don’t Worry,” and “Oxidate,” Brother. has toured the US and UK/EU as official 2020 SXSW and Treefort Music Fest artists as well as headlining and opening for acts such as Slothrust, Mating Ritual, Joshua James and more.

New Year's Eve at The Gateway

The Blocks will present the following eight performers throughout The Gateway:

  • Marcus Wilson, Funny Man Who Does Tricks
  • Mike Balkan Tap dancing while simultaneously playing the flute
  • Mariachi Alma Ranchero de Utah, a five-piece band

The following Gateway merchants will have extended hours for dining, cocktails, and entertainment:

  • Flanker Kitchen + Sporting Club – open until 1 a.m. featuring DJ SCENE.
  • Seabird – open until 1 a.m. No cover.
  • HallPass – open until 1 a.m.
  • ‘Bout Time – open until 1 a.m. No cover.
  • Dave + Buster’s – open until 1 a.m.
  • Wiseguys – comedy show beginning at 7:00 p.m. with Rob Schneider headlining
  • Fleming’s – open until midnight with pre-set NYE menu.
