Happy 6th Birthday to Redhead Marketing & PR

Happy birthday to us – today marks Redhead Marketing & PR’s 6th anniversary!

We have so much to celebrate and be hugely grateful for – Our business doubled in the past year, and we are fortunate to work with some amazing clients in different parts of the U.S. who we get to call our friends and biggest champions. Redhead’s growth has been especially rewarding because it has been completely organic and by word of mouth. We appreciate all the support and love what we do!

During the past several years, we have enjoyed providing a variety of marketing services to and partnering with diverse range of industries, including hospitality and travel, technology, luxury real estate, finance, commercial real estate, legal, professional associations and more. We have learned about so many types of businesses and their target audiences that we enjoy crafting customized, thoughtful messaging for. It has been exciting to help businesses grow by consulting with them on their social media, public relations, email marketing, website development, branding, printed collateral and event planning. Our talent has evolved and matured as well.

We can’t wait to see what the next six years bring!

A Year of Unprecedented Growth

Every business should start a New Year with a goal – or resolution. As we approached 2015, we set out to not only continue to grow Redhead Marketing & PR’s client roster, but to expand it geographically. In this virtual world, it seemed reasonable to expand our reach into new markets, having already dabbled in a few. Why not offer our affordable rates and team-oriented approach to more small- to medium-sized businesses elsewhere? It certainly would make professional life more interesting.

We are pleased to report that thanks to amazing word-of-mouth referrals and more awareness of our business model and happy clients, our 2015 New Year’s Resolution came to fruition – even more than we could have imagined. Two-thirds of Redhead’s business now comes from outside the area with clients in Florida, Oklahoma, Jackson Hole and the Bay Area. These clients are in a variety of industries – finance, healthcare technology, real estate, and resorts and hospitality. They have engaged us for a wealth of services, including public relations, social media management, branding, web development, and collateral design. Providing a variety of marketing and communications services allows our clients to have consistent messaging and branding. It also enables us to become more than a marketing and PR firm; we still play a role as a member of our clients’ teams, even as we grow.

2015 was also a record-breaking year – Redhead Marketing & PR’s business has doubled!

While we love our Park City home base and clients, it has been a fun challenge to grow beyond the borders! Thanks to everyone (colleagues, friends and clients) who has helped us expand; we in turn take great satisfaction in seeing our partners prosper…cheers to you all, and best wishes for a happy and bright 2016!

Breaking Ground in Oklahoma

Our client roster has expanded to Oklahoma as we have recently signed on to do public relations for Carlton Landing, a lakeside resort and town on Lake Eufaula with huge plans in the works. The sustainable community was designed according to the principles of New Urbanism where a healthy lifestyle that incorporates the natural environment is promoted. Carlton Landing’s plans call for 3,000 homesites, a hotel, restaurants and shops. There is a lovely marina, Boat House and organic farm that are enjoyed by full-time residents and second homeowners alike. And there is even a school, which has earned high accolades.

Our first press release for Carlton Landing announces the residence club, which has already had more than 20 sales. The ground breaking is October 17.

Our Client Featured in The New York Times

A couple of months ago, we suggested to our glamping resort client, Conestoga Ranch, that they develop some programming for what was anticipated to be the slower season. The objective was to simultaneously boost the Bear Lake, Utah resort’s September occupancy while creating opportunities for press coverage. They looked to us for suggestions. Knowing the popularity of culinary tourism and fitness retreats, we came up with a paddleboarding and yoga retreat weekend (Pose & Paddle) and a weekend of fun cooking and wine seminars (Campfire Culinary Adventures). We approached some local Park City contacts to lead and help market the retreats.

After we ironed out the details of each retreat and the all-inclusive pricing, we wrote a press release to announce them and pitch the media. This turned out to generate a great deal of interest from the press, including this week’s articles in The New York Times, Salt Lake Tribune, Salt Lake Magazine and Salt Lake City Weekly – a combined media value of thousands of dollars.

As a New Yorker and longtime public relations professional, The New York Times is the crown jewel. It’s a PR guru’s equivalent of winning a tennis grand slam or an Olympic gold medal.

Campfire Culinary Adventures, led by the Park City Culinary Institute, will be held September 18-20. Pose & Paddle is scheduled for September 25-27 and is led by two Park City yogis and paddleboard enthusiasts. Round up some family/friends/coworkers and book your memorable weekend by calling 844-GO-GLAMP. For more info, visit Conestoga Ranch.

The Connection Between Writing for Work and Pleasure

Writing plays a significant role in the everyday world of a public relations and marketing professional. Many different writing styles and techniques come into play whether drafting new business proposals, press releases, advertisements and web copy or writing engaging, punchy content for social media posts. Writing is more than work – it is a way to let the creativity flow. But sometimes it’s refreshing to write for outlets unrelated to our marketing realm. Not only is it a great way to express and discover yourself while sharing your passions, but writing “for fun” also makes you a better, more creative writer for work. We’d like to think it benefits our clients when it comes to the creative work we do for them.

Finding inspiration from food and drink, here’s an article for The Utah Review about Salt Lake City’s maturing and continually evolving culinary scene. It was a great excuse to sample some cutting-edge cuisine and then have a great time writing about the various experiences. Part Two will highlight some new Park City restaurants for Salt Lakers to try when escaping to the mountains to beat the heat this summer. Enjoy!

Conestoga Ranch Hits the SLC TV Networks

Redhead Marketing & PR arranged for several live TV segments on the Salt Lake City networks for Conestoga Ranch on May 27 and 28. The glamping resort, which is opening July 1 at Bear Lake, was able to transport a furnished conestoga wagon from Garden City, Utah to feature as part of the coverage. It was a prop that received a lot of attention both on the streets of downtown and at the networks! In fact, the wagon was such a hit on 2 News This Morning that the producers made a last minute decision to include the resort on the “Fresh Living” show later that same day.

Once again, traditional media coverage proved to be hugely valuable. Web traffic and social media activity spiked significantly, and the reservation agents were kept quite busy with phones ringing steadily.

Below are links to the segments for your viewing pleasure.

Conestoga Ranch SLC Media Blitz

We are  pleased to see the tremendous early response for Conestoga Ranch, a glamping resort set to open July 1 along the shores of beautiful Bear Lake that straddles the Utah-Idaho border near Garden City. The resort, which features glamping tents and conestoga wagons, coupled with amenities like dining, an activity field, bath house, game tent and more, is already 30 percent booked for the summer.

The media response has been just as enthusiastic from both national and regional outlets. We have lined up several, live television appearances in Salt Lake City (Bear Lake’s biggest market for visitors) for one of the partners who will be accompanied by a conestoga wagon in which interviews will be conducted. This is sure to be quite a spectacle and make a big impact. The resort was recently featured on KSL-5’s evening news, and received $25,000 worth of bookings the following day. This is a great reminder that traditional PR continues to be influential in raising product awareness and credibility…and it’s one of the most cost-effective forms of marketing.

Here’s this week’s schedule of live television segments in Salt Lake City for those wishing to tune in – we’ll be sure to post links afterward.

Wednesday, May 27
KSL-5: 12:15 p.m.

Thursday, May 28
ABC-4: 7:15 a.m. (they’ll be doing more filming after the live segment to use for their noon Fresh Living show on a subsequent date)

KUTV-2: 11:40 a.m.

Knitting and Campaigning

What do a high-end yarn boutique and a political campaign have in common? Very little, except that they are two of Redhead Marketing & PR’s newest clients. We are pleased to be handling the marketing for Wasatch & Wool, opening late summer at Redstone in Park City and David Brickey, the Republican candidate running for reelection as Summit County Attorney in November.

Brickey, as he is amicably known amongst his peers and colleagues, has served as Summit County Utah Attorney for 10 years. A moderate Republican, he was first appointed to this office by a mostly Democratic County Council. Redhead will be working to conceive a campaign brand in addition to developing the website and other campaign collateral. We will also manage grassroots marketing efforts throughout the county to elevate awareness, raise funds and get out the vote. David Brickey is the fifth political candidate to engage Redhead Marketing & PR since the company was founded in 2010. Our other political highlights include managing the successful campaigns and marketing efforts for Park City Mayor Dana Williams in 2009 and his successor, Jack Thomas in 2013. We love the energy and intensity of working on political campaigns!

Wasatch & Wool will occupy the space that once housed the CJ Sport boutique at the Redstone shopping center at Park City’s Kimball Junction. The yarn boutique will offer an intimate, welcoming retail experience with high-quality, natural yarns at a variety of price points. With the recent resurgence of knitting as a hobby for all ages, the owner seeks to foster a local knitting community with workshops and social gatherings for knitters. Park City’s only yarn store, Wasatch & Wool is sure to appeal to both locals and visitors with a passion for knitting and creating special knitted products with yarns of superior quality. Redhead Marketing & PR is beginning work on branding, logo development and website design. We will manage additional public relations and marketing collateral needs as well.
